Centipedes
Pest LibraryRemove unwanted pests from your home
Centipedes in Maryland are similar to the centipedes you’d find across the US. They look like worms, but they aren’t! They’re more closely related to spiders – this means they require a different process for extermination and prevention. Centipedes are humidity-loving hunters, so if you find them in your home, they’ve come in to live and breed in a damp area (like a humid crawlspace) and to hunt smaller insects that are present in the home. Get a dehumidifier for your home if you find areas of damp, then give us a call!
SIGNS OF A CENTIPEDE INFESTATION INCLUDE:
- Seeing the centipedes themselves. They’re notoriously solitary, so if you’re seeing more than one, you likely have an infestation.
- Seeing the pests they hunt, like ants, roaches, spiders, and silverfish! We treat these prey pests as well, so if you’re seeing them give us a call!
- Seeing centipedes during the day. Centipedes are nocturnal, so seeing one hunting during the day can indicate an infestation.
Centipedes are not inherently harmful! They eat pests that are harmful, so if you’re trying to get rid of centipedes, look for signs of their prey and treat that first. Call today to set up a consultation and find a pest control solution that works best for you.
